Story
James (Ghanaian) and Lisa (Trinidadian) Adjei, parents of two student athletes, migrated to Dallas, TX in 2001. Their son Chen excelled in soccer, playing at various levels and earning All American honors in 2023. Their daughter Galia played volleyball from junior high and currently plays club volleyball. In 2021, a job change for Lisa resulted in a significant financial loss, making it difficult to pay for Galia's volleyball fees, which led to her being moved to a lower team. This experience inspired Lisa to help families struggling with club fees, especially after learning that the libero position, which Galia plays, receives the least athletic scholarships in college.

CheGal Athletic Project focuses on empowering youth athletes in volleyball and soccer by providing financial support for club fees to families undergoing significant life changes. They also offer college scholarships to volleyball liberoes. For students who play soccer and are first-generation college students from Africa and the Caribbean, aiming to inspire both academic and athletic excellence. Their mission is to break financial barriers and create opportunities for young athletes to pursue their dreams and reach their full potential.

This scholarship is designed to support senior high school student-athletes who are first generation athletes from Africa or the Caribbean who have committed to play collegiate soccer. In addition to providing scholarship opportunities,
CheGal is dedicated to assisting families who have faced financial hardship, ensuring that those unable to afford club fees can still pursue their athletic dreams.

Choose your level of giving: Volleyball scholarships start at the Flight Bracket ($500 or less) and go up to the Gold Bracket ($2,500 or more), while soccer scholarships range from the Bronze level ($500 or less) to the prestigious Diamond level ($2,500 or more). Every gift helps talented athletes overcome barriers and achieve their dreams on the field or court. Together, we can create opportunities where they are needed most.
